Bike 3/5

I met JHS in Carnation and we rode 31.1 miles in 2:03.

I told JHS I felt like gimp: the course was rolling hills and we faced a headwind, but still, it felt like a lot of work to average just over 15 mph. My goal is to average 16 mph during IMCdA!

Here is the map and elevation profile we rode. We did an out-and-back, and I only mapped it one way, so the elevation profile can be seen more clearly.

OK, that makes me feel better. From looking at the profile, the ride is reasonably hilly.

Rest 3/4

So I didn't exactly slack out the entire day; instead I went snowboarding. Hey, that's something I can't do in Florida. Gotta have some flexibility in my schedule to do things like this.

Swim 3/3

Got back in the pool over lunch, and swam 1500 yards in 40 minutes: 7x200 and 1x100 cool down. I think I did pretty well for being away for so long - which means I didn't breathe in too much water. :)

Rest 3/2

I got back late, wound up watching Smalleville with a coworker friend, and then chatted for a long time about various job strategies with him and his wife. Net result - too late to bike on the trainer. Maybe tomorrow I can do a two hour ride and make up for it.

Run 3/1

I met my friend CD from my running club, and we did the downtown Kirkland run. CD is training for the Whidbey Island half-marathon and wanted to do some hills, so this was a good run as it had a few small ones.

We ran 6.3 miles in 1:10, pretty good as we were taking it easy and chatting the whole way. CD was fascinated by my relocation situation - if I get organized I'll write up on my regular blog as CD bought up many points to ponder.

Bike 2/27 - Chilly Hilly

I did Chilly Hilly with some friends - a fun and challenging loop around Bainbridge Island. The weather held and it was quite a workout.

The Chilly Hilly portion was 33.4 miles in 2:24. I was happy with that, especially since I rode yesterday. By the end of the ride, my left foot was sore - it felt like some nerve compression on either the arch or ball of my foot. It could be that more comfy shoes would help, or some extra padding.
