Bike 2/18

I spun along for 45 minutes while watching Babylon 5 - Season 2 Disc 2.

Using the control unit, I set the CompuTrainer to a wattage of 80, and kept my cadence between 85 and 90. This corresponded to a speed of around 15 mph in the 39x17.

Bike 2/17

I didn't get out early enough to enjoy the continuing good weather, so I wound up on the trainer. I finally hooked up the CompuTrainer again, and was careful to wrap the cadence cable so it wouldn't get caught in the pedals. I just spun along keeping between 15 and 16 mph for 40 minutes.

Afterwards, I started to fiddle with the controls, and found I was on the lowest power setting. So I upped the power resistance to 90 or 100 watts and felt the difficulty rise. I'll work on getting better using the control unit, and then eventually connect a computer and try out all the fancy stuff the CompuTrainer can do.

Swim 2/17

I intended to swim 1500 yards or more, but left work for lunch late. I wound up only managining 1000 yards in 30 minutes: 4x100, 2x200, 2x100.

No fist gloves drills this time. My elbow feels better so perhaps next week I'll try them again. On a positive note, breathing felt really easy this time. However, I still feel like I'm chopping through the water, and that swimming isn't a sleek and effortless as it should be.

Run 2/16

I ran with ESR from Redmond Town Center. Hilly route - 5 miles in 0:44:38.

Bike 2/16

Another beautiful sunny cloudless cool day. I didn't have as much time, but I think anything is better than nothing, as far as bike training. 11.6 miles in 0:49.

This is my new basic bike route:

bike route

I can a few miles by riding on the SRT towards Bothell, or extending south towards Lake Sammamish along West Lake Sammamish Parkway.

Bike 2/15

At last, back in the saddle after so many days. I rode from home to 124th Ave NE, looped around 60 acres park, got on the SRT and went out to the bridge. Then, I came back into Redmond, climbed along 520 and Old Redmond Road, along 132nd Ave NE back home.

25.1 miles in 1:44. Nice day, sunny, clear, and cool.

Rest 2/14

I'm not sure what it is about travel that makes me so tired, but it does.

Run 2/13

Today I will miss the Valentine's Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K, 5K, 1 mile running event - the director Bob Green likes to pack as many events into a day as possible! This event is outside Olympia in Millersylvania park, where I've done a half mary and a sprint duathlon, so I know the course - it has rolling hills, and the half is an out-and-back. My friends EN will run the half mary, JHS will run the full mary, and T2 will be an enthusiastic supporter - perhaps T2 will bring along a bike and pace everybody! ;) A fun time indeed, if the weather is decent.

I registered for the half and since I'm out of town, I ran along a path near work in Heathrow, FL instead. I did a leisurely 4.4 miles in 43 minutes. I was also wildly overdressed - long sleeved shirt and tights. I was able to roll up my sleeves, but shorts would have felt much nicer.

Still, it was really nice weather, almost a little too warm - something I might need to get used to - for a mid-February run.
